Early 19th Century, scientists had observed that Uranus did not have the usual orbit that was expected based on their mathematical calculation. By 1845 Le Verrier, a teacher of astronomy at the Ecole Polytechnic Paris, had become interested in the motion of the planet Uranus. He set out to find out why and in the process discovered the present of another planet beyond Uranus. Hence Neptune was added to the Solar System.
